We are His Children!

As a father pities his children, So the LORD pities those who fear Him- Psalm 103:13

As we meditate on this verse, it says that the Lord pities those who fear him. The word ‘pities; roughly translated from Hebrew means compassion but not just a feeling but an emotion that inspires action.

But there is a condition. This is for those who fear Him. The fear is not being scared of God. This is the fear of displeasing the Lord. This is a character where we honor the Lord to that extent where we fear the Lord’s displeasure. It is a thought process that a child of God needs to develop. A fear of displeasing the Heavenly father. Once we have this style of thinking, that leads to the right relationship with our Heavenly Father. Then, as promised our God’s compassion inspires Him to do the best for us.

This verse may seem obvious for those who have had a very good relationship with their earthly father. But for a person who has never had a father’s presence in their lives or a good relationship with their father, this may be difficult to understand. To them, the Bible says in Psalm 68:5: He is a father to the fatherless. Our God is our heavenly father. All can experience the love of a father through our Heavenly Father.

In Hebrews 13:5 the Lord promises that “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Today, let us live our lives in the confidence of the presence and the compassion of our Lord in our lives.

Amen! I love the attitude of not wanting to displease the Father.
