1 Peter 3:12
“For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
1 Peter 3 largely addresses all believers, stating that they should refuse to seek revenge when wronged. Peter quotes from both David and Isaiah to show that God’s people are called to reject evil and to do good. In fact, it may be God’s will for His people to go through certain situations, in part to demonstrate His power.
At some point in life, we all have been through a phase where we get tired of doing good without being appreciated, and watching the wicked win can bring us down. Colossians 3:23–24 states, “Whatever you do, do it from the heart for the Lord and not for people. You know that you will receive an inheritance as a reward. You serve the Lord Christ.” It is completely understandable to lose heart when we do good and see no effects of it, but one thing we always need to remember is that our reward comes from only our Lord, and He knows what we need and exactly when. His eyes are always on those who seek Him and do good.
It is a beautiful feeling to know that heaven rejoices every time we make a choice to follow God’s will. Not for a second do we leave God’s mind, and He sees all that we do, and we know our God has a way of rewarding the righteous according to His timing.
