Where is your heart?

Acts 10:2:  A devout man and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

Cornelius was a centurion in the Roman army, but he believed in the one true God, Jesus.  He was a devout man and he and his household feared God.  He helped the needy people and prayed to God always.  God saw his heart and wanted to have a relationship with him by sending Peter to him.  Cornelius and his household were saved and got baptized at the end of the day.

There are 3 things that Cornelius did that won God’s favour on him.  He was a devout man too.  God listened to his prayer even before he could attain salvation or baptism.  God is looking at the heart of everyone even today.  If your thoughts and intentions are pure before God, He would do anything to bless you.  He will even send a radical Peter to help you attain your blessing.  God never judged Cornelius because he wasn’t a Christian yet.  He never stopped listening to his prayer because he wasn’t baptized yet either.  This man, Cornelius, though a non-Jewish, did what God pleased.  He loved the Lord God.  He prayed to God always.  He sought him every time for answers, though outside the Jewish laws and tradition.  God loves everyone, rather God loves people who are pure in heart.

Lay aside the pride and status of your life and set your heart on knowing more of God.  Let us be people who are good hearted and loyal to God.  Seek God for everything in your life.
