Who has seen God?

Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The one who does good is of God; the one who does evil has not seen God. 3 John 1:11

The world is full of evil. The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life loom in each of us. Lust is not from the Father but the world.

You may be a believer, but you are still a part of this sinful world. As long as you are in this world, you will be surrounded by evil thoughts, actions, words and, most importantly, people.

Sin has blinded the eyes of humanity, and man is walking in darkness. But you, beloved, are not of the world. You have the Word of God, which is a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path. You have the spiritual vision and understanding of who God the Father is and are forever changed. As a result, God has equipped you with the power to forsake sin.

Discernment is the gift of the Holy Spirit. And as believers, we need to exercise this gift. When you feel uncomfortable being around someone, when being at that party feels wrong, or even listening to something makes you uncomfortable, you always have a choice to get out. What seems reasonable to others might be evil, and the awkward feeling you feel is the Holy Spirit reminding you to walk in the light. You do not have to imitate others. You have Jesus, the perfect example of holiness for you to imitate. Imitate Jesus.
