Who is God for you?

Psalm 27:1:  The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

The psalmist, David described 3 things about God in his life.  He said God was his light, salvation and strength.  He proudly acknowledged that he had nothing to be afraid of.

What does God being light mean?  It means that God was the light in David’s life by dispelling the shadows of darkness or the deeds of darkness completely from his life.  There was no place for darkness to rule.  God led him in paths of light, away from wickedness.  He also says that God was his salvation as well as the strength of his life.  The psalmist knew that God was the only one who could save him and rescue from sin.  God was the strength of his life. If it was not for God, he would not have won the many battles,  and he would not have been the most successful king of Israel.  He had no fear of the enemies because God was on his side.

When was the last time you confessed to God that He was your strength or light or salvation?  If you have not, do it today.  Our strength will fail us one day and all that we depend upon today will slowly fade away, but if we rely on God for everything, we will surely succeed like David.  What is your decision?
