Proverbs 24:3-4
“Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.”
The book of Proverbs is well-known for its little nuggets of wisdom. It is also a book that emphasizes the importance of wisdom in daily living. Today’s passage explains how wisdom builds the house, understanding establishes it, and knowledge fills the rooms with riches.
Psalm 127:1 says, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain.” Are we using our own limited wisdom, skills, and abilities to establish our lives? Or are we relying on the sovereign Lord to build our lives as He sees fit? We need wisdom that’s rooted in the Word of God to build a life that glorifies His name.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding (Proverbs 9:10-11). When we live in reverent awe of the Lord and trust His lordship, we will have the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to build a life according to His will.
Build your life on the Rock of Ages, the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will not be shaken during the storms of life. Let your life be rooted in God’s Word and built around your faith in the Lord. Then you will find your life filled with treasures that are more precious than what the world can offer.
