Psalm 56:3-4
Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?
In the process of fleeing from King Saul, the psalmist David is now trapped in Gath, the enemy’s land. This mighty hero of Israel was indeed the same person who killed Goliath, the mighty champion from Gath (1 Samuel 17:4). Escaping from a bad situation, David, now a fugitive of Israel, ends up in an even more dire situation.
Similar to David’s, our journey of faith can often advance from bad to worse. When God sent Moses first to speak to Pharaoh, the misery of the enslaved Israelites in Egypt escalated beyond servitude (Exodus 5). Our promises are supernatural, but the challenges surrounding us are beyond human intervention. Only God can turn around our insurmountable circumstances for the better.
In our dire situations, let our desperate cry for help be to God alone, like David. Although David could have sought help from Jonathan, the crown prince of Israel and his best friend, David chose to trust God. God can handle our anxieties and fears; He records our tears. God will bring us to safety supernaturally or naturally, but let our trust be in Him only. He is more than enough to fulfill His promises for you.
This circumstance was not the end of David, for he was a man after God’s own heart. Our circumstances will not be the end of us; God always has the final word. He is the author and finisher of our faith. Our lives serve as a testimony to a decaying and wicked world that children of God are more than overcomers.
So, today, take courage and be transparent with God; He will rescue you!
