For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light Ephesians 5:8
The term darkness in the above verse represents the darkness of sin, malice, laziness, depression, procrastination, that is prevalent in a human’s heart. Whereas the term light means the righteousness, joy, peace, courage, strength, and grace that comes from GOD.
The Bible is telling us in this above verse that, once we were people who were prioritizing the things of this world, giving ourselves to sinfulness, laziness, depression, and procrastination. BUT now, GOD says, we are light, we are the evidence of GOD’s faithfulness, HIS righteousness, Joy, Peace, and we have the courage that GOD bestows on us.
Today, as we are reading this daily devotion, we might feel we are not worthy, or GOD would have nothing to do with sinners like us, or we might feel inadequate in our prayer life, whatever be the reason, just keep it aside, and run to GOD, like how the prodigal’s son ran to his father.
Even our greatest sin and weakness is no match to the greatness of the love, that GOD holds for us. He is not angry, instead, HE is willing to mend us and make us better. HE is not disappointed, HE is waiting at the door to take you in HIS arms and comfort you. Let us not shun GOD in our ignorance, but very consciously trust HIS neverending and unfailing love for us.
