You are Chosen

1 Peter 2:9 – “You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”

It feels special to be chosen, doesn’t it? Whether it’s a kindergartener being picked as some’s best friend, or a job seeker being chosen for a coveted role, the underlying sentiment is the same. When you’re chosen for something, you know you’ve been handpicked. You know you’re wanted; you’ve got that special something that makes you the perfect fit.

The Lord Jesus Christ handpicked His disciples in the first century. They were chosen to follow Him intimately and learn from Him. In much the same way, He’s chosen regular people like us to be His disciples in this generation. He’s selected us and blessed us with unique gifts and abilities, so we might be His ambassadors in the 21^st century. If you’ve experienced salvation, if God has drawn you out of darkness and brought you into His light, you are chosen.

You can rest secure in your identity as one chosen by God Himself, a son/daughter of the King of kings made holy by His grace. When you know you’re chosen and special, you’re free to embrace your calling, living each day giving praise and honor to God Almighty.

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, take a step back and remember who you are and Who has chosen you. The God who chose you will not leave you to figure things out on your own. He will give you the wisdom, grace, and strength you need every day to accomplish His purpose in the world. Let His presence strengthen you and guide you today.
