Exodus 2:9 – “And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, ‘Take this child away and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages.’ So the woman took the child and nursed him.”
One can only wonder what Moses’ mother, Jochebed, must have been thinking when she let go of him in a basket. Moses was barely a few months old, and his mother could not have been at peace with leaving him in the river. But she had to, for the sake of his life. However, God worked to restore Moses back to his mother for a few more years.
Jochebed had to trust God and let go of her son, but she got him back with a triple blessing.
1. Her relationship with her son was restored.
2. She was now employed by Pharaoh’s daughter and under her protection. No harm would befall Moses – a Hebrew boy who would otherwise be killed.
3. She was paid to do her motherly duties. God made sure she had enough provision.
Is God asking you to trust Him and let go of something in your life? It could be a relationship, your past, negative habits, bitterness, or even a good opportunity. When you obey God and let go, you allow God to fill you up with more of Himself. Let go, let God take over, and allow His blessings to flow through your life.
