Psalm 73:1: Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.
God is good all the time and all the time God is good. If God is good all the time, why do bad things happen? Simple, bad things do not come from God. He is a good God and He does not change. He continues to be good even in our bad times. He encourages us and gives us the strength to move on. That is why He is a good God.
If we have a heart that is clean and without any impurities, God will be good to us. David was a man after God’s own heart. God loved him so much except on one occasion when he sinned against God and repented. He won almost all the battles because God was fighting for him. He encouraged himself in the Lord at Ziklag when everyone pointed their fingers against him. God expects us to be clean like Him. God looks at the heart, He looks at the inside. It is what is inside that comes out on the outside. If our hearts and minds are pure and clean, our external character and behaviour also will be holy and true.
Ask God to give you a clean heart and a clean mind. David prayed to God to create in him a clean heart and to renew a right spirit within him. He begged God not to take away the Holy Spirit from him because it is the Holy Spirit who will guide us in paths of godliness and convict us when wrong. May God strengthen us to have a clean heart and a heart that has no pride or guile.
