Isaiah 61:7 – “Instead of your shame there shall be a double portion; instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their lot; therefore in their land they shall possess a double portion; they shall have everlasting joy.”
The dictionary defines shame as, “a painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behaviour.” Have you ever regretted words you spoke or felt ashamed of something you did? Most of us do hold a certain degree of shame in our lives. But the stronghold of shame can also have a negative impact on how we live our lives.
When Jesus died and rose again, He obliterated every iota of your sin and shame. The only place it truly exists is in your mind. What caused you shame in the past need not have a hold on your future. The blood of Jesus has set you free. Instead of shame and dishonour, God promises you everlasting joy.
The key to experience this joy is by immersing yourself in the Word of God. Allow the life giving words of the Bible to quench every shameful thought and word that might enter your mind. Let the presence of the Holy Spirit elevate your life and draw you out of the dumps. Set your mind on Jesus and He will bring out the beauty from your mess.
