John 1:16 – “For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.”
Grace is God’s gift to His children. We cannot possibly do anything to deserve it. God grants us His grace because He is good, and He loves to give good gifts to His children. God’s grace is the silver lining amidst the dark shadows of our lives. It is the sliver of dawn at the end of a dreary night. It is God giving us just what we need, exactly when we need it.
In times of prolonged affliction, it might appear that God’s grace is missing in action. But that could not be further from the truth. The fact that we have breath in our nostrils and enough strength for today is proof that God is gracious. We cannot try to merit God’s grace but we can rest in His presence and receive the grace He freely longs to pour on us.
Just as today’s verse says, we receive grace upon grace from the fullness of God. When you feel you cannot hold on any longer, it’s God who will help you persevere. Rest in who God is, spend time in His presence and allow His Word to minister to your soul. All you need is found in Christ alone. His grace will be evident in your life and you will give Him all the glory.
