Jehovah our Counsellor

Proverbs 19:21—”There are many devices in a man’s heart; But the counsel of Jehovah, that shall stand.”

Today’s world contains so many options. To top this, our society’s acceptance of wayward ways are increasing with reasons such being politically correct or having an open mind. Yes, we ought to be accepting and nonjudgmental of all people, like Jesus did. However, integrity and contents of the Bible have to be adhered to, to the last letter.

So what do we do when in doubt or or when we are in a hazy situation? Examples: The cop will not sign off on the police clearance form for your passport without a bribe; the m.l.a.’s person asks the principal to admit so-and-so with a clause of school approvals attached; the boss is known to offend married women with lewd comments but offers them promotions on a priority basis too; the class teacher openly has a bias toward the children in her community, etc.
What do you do when you feel that you are on crossroads, or when your hands are tied? Do you go to your spouse or friend to vent your heart out? Rather, have you taken your problem or plan to God, or are you waiting on men to give you the answer with their limited wisdom to make decisions?

Anyway, regardless of the method we follow, one thing remains – the counsel and plans of God will stand eventhough there maybe many devices in a man’s heart. We must listen to advice from believers who pray(go to God) about their decisions and accept their instruction, so that we may gain wisdom to handle our own things in the future. “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.”

Here are the promises from God for those who look to God and follow His will:
– Revelation 2:26-29—And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. And I will give him the morning star. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
– Proverbs 1:23—Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
