Happy when persecuted

I Peter 4:14:  If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you; on their part he is  evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

The Bible says blessed are those who suffer for righteousness’ sake because their’s is the kingdom of God.  Do not stop what you are doing just because you are persecuted.  Instead hold on strongly to what you think is good and what God thinks is right.

Peter encourages believers here to joyfully endure suffering for Christ because as believers we have the spirit of glory and of God resting upon us.  He will be glorified through us.  Christ is glorified or made known through our suffering.  We become successful when we endure tribulations and persecutions.  Therefore, do not give up hope in Christ when troubles come your way.  Each and every suffering that we go through is with a purpose.  They only build us into a strong person for the Lord.  Unless we go through some suffering and challenges, we will never know the strength of God.  God’s strength is made known in our weakness.  He lifts us up when we trust in His grace and His power.

Since we have the spirit of glory and of God resting upon us, let us make God glorified in our lives.  There is a saying which goes like this, “when the going gets tough, the tough get going.”  Let us continue to be tough in tough circumstances.  Be willing to live a life which will give glory to God despite every odds in life.
