God’s Law – to Love

Psalm 119:165-“Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.”

Agape, ‘God’s love’ is His nature and is the fundamental core of His precepts. About his precepts, God said, “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children.” What are the precepts? God’s commands are to “Love your neighbor as yourself”, “anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister”, “do to others what you would have them do to you”. God tells us to: “love each other as I have loved you”. The depth of this is a great love. A love from which God sent His Son to die as a sacrifice for our sins and sickness on the Cross, to bring us victory, and to reconcile our sinning selves to Him through this sacrifice.

What God gives us when we follow God’s Word through his commandments:
-Prosperity and Success: Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
-Consciousness of sin: Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.
-Set above: If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.”
-God’s peace and favor- Shalom: And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.
-Stability/Calm: The love we follow and show others brings us great peace and stability in our life. Amidst wordly storms and tempests nothing will cause us to stumble if we try to, and love to, do God’s will.

There are just two paths – God’s way and the world’s ways. In the former, we will have peace especially during the roaring of the waves or under thunder and lightning. More we forsake men’s ways, the closer we will connect with God. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by me.” Jesus is the only way to Salvation. God sent Jesus to show us the way to live as man. Holy Spirit guides us in God’s will, we only need to listen in and obey. When we do this, we will experience the peace and joy that comes from God. The ‘joy of the Lord’ is our strength!
