Psalm 25:8
Good and upright is the Lord; therefore He teaches sinners in the way.
In Psalm 25, King David declares his trust in the Lord, pleads for deliverance, and proclaims his gratitude for God’s faithfulness. In today’s verse, David points out two aspects of God’s character – He is both good and upright.
The goodness of God is evident in His mercy and kindness towards His people, even when they deviate from His ways. But God is also upright, which means He stands for truth and justice. That is why He instructs sinners in His ways. In Psalm 25:4-5, David asks God to reveal His ways and guide him into truth. That should be our prayer as well.
God does not want anyone to perish; instead, He desires everyone to repent and be restored to a relationship with Him (2 Peter 3:9). We’ve all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, but His grace has redeemed us (Romans 3:23-24).
God desires to bring those who’ve gone wayward back into His fold. He guides and directs the paths of those who’ve gone astray. Many stalwarts in the Old Testament, like Abraham, Jacob, and David, made immoral choices, yet God brought them back into a loving relationship with Him.
If you’ve wandered away from God, you’re not too far gone. God continually pursues you and longs to guide you back to Himself. Heed His instruction and return to Him. Jesus loves you and cares for you. You can trust the One who gave His very life for your salvation. Acknowledge that you need Him as your Lord, and allow Him to have dominion over your life.
