Proverbs 1:33
But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
Abide in me and I shall abide in you! The word ‘Abide’ stands as a central truth to the very heart of the Gospel and our walk with the Lord. It’s an act of acceptance and to act in accordance – to obey, to comply and to observe.
Each of us dwells in the overflowing presence of the Holy Spirit. We, at times yearn to know the truth from the Lord and most times it’s not the truth we like to hear. We hunger and thirst to walk in his percepts and sometimes we are reluctant and avoid certain confrontations. The Holy Spirit is always there waiting on us; waiting for us to turn and come back and listen to what he has to say. No matter how hard we try we cannot know the heart of our Lord. It magnifies our very being and stands apart from who we are and what we are. Worship alone at times does not take the place of his magnificence.
But faith does. The seed of faith in each one of our hearts helps us to dwell in his presence and know his heart. Faith makes our walk with the Lord stronger and faith alone takes us through ravines, cliffs and jagged rocks. At the end of the darkest tunnel lies the comfort of the Comforter. The light of his countenance helps us dwell in his embrace; away from the fear of evil and safe in a place we call the earthly abode of heaven.
Our earthly vessel is in the flesh while we are clothed in His Spirit never to leave nor forsake.
