James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
Is there a connection between forgiveness of sins and healing of diseases?
From the verse above, it is clear that James is implying a strong relationship between the two.
James, a disciple of Jesus, was present during the healing of the paralysed man.
Four friends, unable to reach a paralysed man to Jesus, lowered him through the roof of a building, where Jesus was ministering to a large crowd.
Seeing their faith, Jesus said “Son, your sins are forgiven”.
Surprising, isn’t it?
We’ve read about Jesus telling many people that their faith had healed them.
But, this was a first!
After making it clear that He has the power to forgive sins, Jesus told the paralysed man to get up, take his mat and go home.
Healing was immediate!
Many a time it is our sin that stops the healing power of God from reaching us.
James grasped this secret.
Before James was born, David wrote the Psalms, in which he says “God forgives all your iniquities, and heals all your diseases” – Psalms 103:3.
Even David knew the secret!
It is clear that healing and forgiveness go hand in hand.
Are we looking for our healing without confessing our sins and asking for forgiveness?
Truly it is, let all of us confess all our sins to get healing from the Lord Jesus Christ. He says that I am the Lord that healeth thee, I send my word to all your diseases I am the Lord your healer. Amen
Amen! What an awesome reminder to all of us!
God bless you!
