Psalm 117:2 – “His merciful kindness is great toward us, And the truth of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord!”
The Psalms are filled with every kind of emotion – joy, sadness, desperation, anger, frustration… but the one thing that overwhelms it all is praise. While there are so many Psalms that deal with raw emotions, none compare to the heartfelt praise each of the Psalmists offer God.
They don’t just praise and thank God when everything is going right in their lives. They offer their best praise to God, even in the most trying situations. They acknowledge their difficulties, they plead with God for help, but they also remember His goodness and vocalize their faith in Him. Psalm 117 is the shortest chapter in the Bible – it has only 2 verses. But these two verses hold the key to unlock victory in the midst of your everyday battles.
When the going gets tough, remember the Lord’s merciful kindness is great towards you. God’s Word is the truth that lasts forever. Every promise God has given you will be fulfilled. You may be woefully unprepared to fight the battle raging in your life. But when you look beyond your circumstance and start glorifying God in the midst of it, He will give you the strength to overcome and come out victorious.
