The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV)
The book of the prophet Jeremiah is full of warnings and prophecies of doom to Israel. It emphasizes the future troubles that Israel will have to face. But among these verses of judgment and justice, is this above verse, of grace and assurance.
Sometimes our life is like the book of Jeremiah, full of warning signs and uncertainties and unknown fears we are bound to face. But even in these circumstances, our GOD says that HE has loved us with an everlasting love and HE has drawn us with unfailing kindness.
When we are going through GOD’s judgment over our life or uncertainties and fear is filled in our day to day life, we wonder where is GOD’s love here? We might not be seeing HIS unfailing kindness over us. But let us etch this in our hearts, “The love of GOD lies behind the darkest experiences of our life”. He has allowed us to go through certain fearful and challenging situations because he is disciplining us and changing us for a better life. It might seem hard now, but it is for the greater good.
