Luke 6:28: Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
The Lord Jesus always taught us to love one another. He also taught us to love our enemies. As if this was not enough, He also taught us to pray for those who are wicked or nasty or malicious towards us.
In real life, it is hard to love our enemies and to pray for those who are wicked to us. It is actually against our human nature to do such godly things, but still the Lord Jesus has commanded us to do so. We can do it if we pray about it and ask God to strengthen us and to give us a strong and a loving heart just like His. The Lord Jesus did not utter a single curse from the cross that He was hanging on. He chose to forgive them who wronged Him and beat Him. When we do good to those who wrong us, we are repaying evil with good. In doing so, we are actually putting on the very nature of Christ and are winning them to God without judging them for their wrong. Vengeance belongs to God, not to us. It is good to behave in a way that Christ would behave, be it hurtful or not so pleasant situations.
Let’s get real with ourselves and do what God wants us to do. One is to bless and not curse and the other is to pray for those who lash out against us. Let’s do our best for God and make glad His heart.
