Psalms 7:17 (NKJV)

“I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness, and will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.”

Have you noticed when praises go up, blessings come down? And when blessings come down, praising God becomes easier.

But what happens when our problems are as daunting as the walls of Jericho? Do we still praise God?

The Israelites, nomadic at the time, camped on the plains of Jericho from where they had a clear view of the walls that surrounded the city. It didn’t require the expertise of a structural engineer to vouch for the formidability of its walls. They were massive, unnerving and in every sense of the word, uninviting!

Many a time our problems are as terrifying as the walls of Jericho. They tower over us and cast shadows that hide us from the light of the Son. But when we have the Lord Jesus in our lives, His praises on our lips and faith in our hearts, He won’t just wipe out the shadow. He’ll bring down the walls!

With Joshua at the helm, the Israelites marched around the city of Jericho as commanded by the Lord. And the presence of the Lord went with them. On the seventh day, after marching around the city seven times, the priests blew trumpets, which were sounded in praise of God.

The Lord had commanded the army to raise a great shout when they heard the trumpets. So, they did with faith in their hearts, and the “unassailable” walls of Jericho came crashing down.

Often, we feel surrounded by problems. The more we think about our problems the more daunting they become. Today, let’s shift our focus from our problems and seek God. With His presence around us, praise on our lips and faith in our hearts, even the most spiralling problem will come crashing down!
