Proverbs 22:6 – “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
In the world we live today, little is talked about teaching our children the ways of God: Biblical values, family values, fear of the Lord. More importance is given to achieving a high education, getting a good job to be able to gain material possessions. All these are good, but they do not have an eternal impact on the generations to come.
What is eternal is more precious, the values which transcend from this life to the life to come is what really matters, and what we should be teaching our children. The Lord knows that we easily forget what He has done for us, the miracles that we have seen, the miracles that He has done to our forefathers. (Deuteronomy 4:9).
We are supposed to “teach these things to our children, speaking about them when we sit at home and when we walk along the road, when we lie down and when we get up.” (Deuteronomy 11:19). In other words: all the time, all day long.
Our children will grow up and we want them to be men and women who fear the Lord and who will love Him with all their heart. If we as parents are able to achieve this beautiful task that God gives us – then we will leave an eternal legacy to them and to our grandchildren as well.
Our main job as a parent is to “train up our children in the way they should go, the way that leads to God – and to life eternal – so that when they are old, they will remain and will not depart from it.”
Praise the Lord. I thank God for you, the devotions have been a great blessing to me. Looking forward for more as the Lord gives you the grace. Thanks
So true….There is such a need to show faith to our children rather than all other comforts we provide for them
