The Great Satisfier

Psalm 107:8-9
“Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness.“

God is good all the time, and All the time God is good. Time and again, God has delivered, blessed, helped, and guided His people in all situations. He has promised not to leave us nor forsake us. He is just a prayer away.

Psalm 23:6 says “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” The perks of dwelling in God’s presence are His goodness and mercy.

We can surely agree that God’s goodness, mercy, and love are unconditional and unfailing. This truth will surely fill us with thankfulness.

When we count our blessings and remind ourselves of how God has sustained us thus far our hearts are filled with gratitude.

Longing soul and hungry soul is the expression that shows that we humans are very difficult to be satisfied. We always go after something more than what we have. There is nothing on this earth that can truly satisfy us. As soon as we get what we want there’s another thing to get. As soon as we meet a goal, we are looking for the next goal. There will always be something else. There is rarely true satisfaction.

Only God can satisfy us in every way. It is possible when we surrender all and rely on Him and not on ourselves, people, or things. Every time Israelites find themselves longing for something we see God has always provided more than what they expected. He has always satisfied them. So He is today. When we are longing and hungry for more of Him He will surely fill us and satisfies us. Our cup overflows. Let us set our priorities right. May we seek Him more, then surely “All the things shall be added unto us”.
