Deuteronomy 5:33 NKJV
“You shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God commanded you, that you may live and it may be well with you, and you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.”
In today’s verse, we see Moses reiterating a command and its associated promises for the Israelites. If the Israelites obey God and walk in His ways, they will live long and prosper in the promised land. The same principle applies to us today – when we seek to follow God’s Word and live in obedience to Him, we get to experience the abundant life God has promised us.
The Israelites in the Old Testament had the ten commandments to follow, but Jesus Christ summed it all up in just two statements (Matthew 22:37-40):
- Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
- Love your neighbor as yourself.
The best part is, we don’t have to strive to do it on our own. The Holy Spirit is with us – to help us, teach us, and remind us of God’s Word (John 14:26).
And if we fail to keep His Word (as we sometimes will), we only need to confess our shortcomings to God and repent. He is faithful to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
Prayer: Lord, help me walk in Your ways today so that I may experience the abundant life You’ve promised me. I’ll always be grateful for Your guidance over my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Praise be to God Pastor
The key to abundant life is Deuteronomy 5:33. HIS PROMISE IS SURE, HE’S SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY AND FOREVER.
Thank you Heavenly Father, for you are feeding us with heavenly Manna: the word of God; that proceeds from your mouth. Help us to more faithful and fruitful unto you. You are our strength, our song and you have become my salvation. Thank you Abba Father, you are good good Father, there is none like you.
in the mighty matchless name we pray Amen
