Walk in Righteousness

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. Psalm 1:1

Psalm 1:1 serves as a call to intentional living and a reminder of the significance of aligning one’s life with God’s word and ways.

As followers of Christ, we are called to be intentional about the company we keep and the influences we allow into our lives. This verse reminds us that true happiness and fulfilment are found in living a life that is pleasing to God, rather than conforming to the patterns of the world.

The progression described in this verse—from walking to standing to sitting—illustrates the gradual entrapment that can occur when we compromise our values and compromise with sin. The potential traps could be the feeds from friends and social media. Our friends and other associates can have a profound influence on us, often in a very subtle way. It’s time to assess! Do your friends build up your faith in God, or do they tear it down? True friends should help you draw closer to God, not hinder your relationship with Him.

Let us be intentional about our choices and vigilant in guarding our hearts against sinful influences. This may involve distancing ourselves from certain people or situations that lead us away from God’s truth and immersing ourselves in His Word and His presence.

Only two paths of life lay before us. God’s way of obedience or the way of rebellion and destruction. Be sure to choose wisely, because the path you choose will determine how you will spend eternity. God judges us based on our faith in Him and our response to His revealed will.
