Psalm 119:50

This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your word has given me life.

What is our source of strength in times of trouble, anxiety, or confusion? The answer to this question reveals our perspective on life and defines our ultimate driving force.

The Bible tells us that the Word of God is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. When darkness overwhelms us in ways we do not understand, we must turn to the light of God’s Word.

In fact, the most reassuring factor in our lives is that God has given us everlasting promises in His Word, and He is faithful to keep them. The Word became flesh for us, so we no longer read mere words in the Bible. Instead, through Scripture, we encounter Jesus Christ, the living Word.

As we speak and proclaim the Word of God, we declare the life of Jesus Christ and the saving work He accomplished through His blood, which was shed for us on the cross. Today, as you read the Word of God, let it fill your life with His power and strength.

Truly, His Word is living and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). It will surely accomplish what He desires and achieve the purpose for which He sent it (Isaiah 55:11). Let the Word of God be the source of our strength today. In our affliction, may we depend on His Word and receive the everlasting life that only He can give.
