Deuteronomy 7:9 Know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.
Today, we are reminded of God’s powerful and unchanging faithfulness. He is the covenant-keeping God who extends mercy and keeps His promises across generations. This assurance reminds us of the enduring nature of His love and commitment to His children.
God’s faithfulness is unshakeable. Lamentations 3:22-23: “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” His steadfast promises offer us a solid foundation to build our faith.
The verse also emphasizes God’s mercy, available to those who love Him and keep His commandments. The psalmist later mentions this enduring mercy in Psalm 100:5 “For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.” We are the people of the new covenant. The covenant that was established by the price of the Blood of Jesus Christ. Hence we are not imposed into the 613 laws of the Old Testament. Rather we have one commandment, that is to LOVE.
We believers are always welcome to trust in God’s steadfast nature. Even though we may have life’s challenges, we can rely on His faithfulness. His promises are not fleeting; they stand the test of time, providing us hope and security.
Today, let us reflect on the comfort in God’s faithfulness. As we love Him and keep His commandment of love, we can stay rest assured that His covenant and mercy will endure for generations, offering us an unshakeable hope.
