Proverbs 3:26

For the Lord will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught.

Unpredictable challenges are quite common in our contemporary world. Wars, corporate downsizing, fuel shortages, rising inflation, health issues, and relational struggles often leave us feeling trapped and uncertain. In crises, we try to lean on our skills, resources, and supportive networks. We believe that our abilities or connections will help us overcome our difficulties. However, anchoring our confidence in these temporary supports is often futile.

The story of Daniel in the lion’s den illustrates this truth (Daniel 6). Despite being a reputed statesman, Daniel was the target of a malicious plot. But he did not rely on his position or influence; instead, he remained steadfast in prayer and sought guidance from God. Even when cast into the lion’s den, his unwavering faith moved God to shut the lions’ mouths.

In our lives, we often come across traps that hinder our growth and relationships. Yet, when we place our confidence in the Lord, the Holy Spirit will guide us and help us discern the right steps ahead. With God’s direction and grace, our endeavors will unfold in harmony rather than chaos.

As worries about the future surface, like work, family, or the unknown, we can find relief in God’s promise. He is not a distant observer but an active parent, shaping our paths with wisdom and care. Our only task is to trust Him daily, lean not on our understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6), and allow Him to guide our hearts.

So today, move forward with assurance, knowing that the Lord goes before you, stands beside you, and protects you. Embrace the peace that comes from resting your confidence in Him.
