Proverbs 14:26 In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and His children will have a place of refuge.
Today’s scripture brings to light the profound truth that reverence for the Lord yields strong confidence and secure refuge. This verse assures us that those who fear the Lord can stand firm and unshaken, knowing that He is their protector and sanctuary.
The fear of the Lord, as described here, is not about being scared but about holding deep respect and awe for God’s power and righteousness. Psalm 34:9 says “Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him.” This reverence breeds confidence because it roots us in the unchanging nature of God.
The latter part of the verse promises a place of refuge for His children. Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” God’s children can always find safety and security in His presence, regardless of the circumstances surrounding them.
As believers, understanding the fear of the Lord is key to accessing this divine confidence and refuge. It guides our actions, decisions, and interactions, leading us to live in a manner that honours Him, allowing us to practice more Christ-like behaviour. This path is marked by peace and assurance, knowing that we are under God’s sovereign care.
Today, let us cultivate a reverent fear of the Lord. By doing so, we will find the confidence and refuge promised to His children, standing firm in faith and secure in His unfailing love.
