Proverbs 28:25
He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife, but he who trusts in the Lord will be prospered.
This verse contrasts the destructive nature of pride with the benefit of steadfast faith in God. Arrogance originating from pride leads to friction in relationships with God and man. But the one who trusts in God receives His blessing in all areas of life.
The human heart has not changed; we still see the struggle between pride and trust today. In the corporate environment, it happens when someone else takes credit for our work. On social media, people seek validation with exaggerated, self-focused content. Though pride is not always visible, it can take root if we don’t examine our own greed and self-centeredness. Only through faith and a surrendered heart can we overcome the sin of pride.
Trusting God leads to fulfilment and safety. God loved us so much that He gave His only begotten Son. Let’s take a moment and meditate on the Father’s magnanimous display of love. If He had not sent His Son, we would have been destroyed by our own sin. His love purchased our freedom.
God has lavished His love (1 John 3:1), and it’s sufficient for us. God does not withhold good from us. He has already given His best. He provided then; He will provide now. When we stop being critical of everything and trust God through whatever we may be going through, we begin to see His goodness.
When we fix our eyes on Jesus, we know He will lead us. He will fulfil our heart’s desire according to His will, and protect us from unseen dangers. God’s grace is sufficient for us (2 Corinthians 12:9); through His grace we will be content.
Let’s come to God today with a surrendered heart, and ask Him to examine us and lead us in the path of righteousness.
