Psalm 84:11
The Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
The sun dispels darkness, produces daylight, illuminates all celestial bodies, and is essential for sustaining life. Similarly, God enlightens us with the light of His grace. He is our source of life- the One who enables us to experience abundant life both here on earth and eternally with Him. Just as sunlight means health, growth, and light, so does God’s presence in our lives. He is our protector, defender, guide, and our deliverer from all our enemies. He is our shield against the temptations of the world.
The love of God toward us abounds from His great mercy and goodness. Today’s promise is meant for every believer. It gives us hope and strength to join His mission to care for others. The psalm calls us to live uprightly so that we may receive the full blessings of God. We need to love our Lord by walking in obedience to His ways. After all, He is perfect and gives us life in abundance.
Let us pray and thank our Lord Jesus Christ – who is like the sun (light of the world) – for His love and forgiveness. Also, let us pray this psalm over our lives – that the Lord will give us the grace and strength required to walk uprightly and experience the reward that our Jehovah Jireh will provide. Amen!
