Psalm 51:10

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

This psalm calls us to return to God – to take that U-turn from wherever we have wandered and return to Him. He will renew what is rusted and restore what has been lost in the chaos of this world.

Our God is a restorer. He will never discard His creation because they fail. In fact, in our failures and weaknesses, God draws closer. Yet, where we often fail is when we fall short of God’s expected righteousness and assume it is all over. We quickly convince ourselves that we can never measure up to the standards of a holy God. And we slowly drift, filling our lives with priorities like pleasing people, making money, and chasing experiences.

But we must always remember that whatever path we take in life, whether pursuing our dreams or gathering experiences, when we do it with God, it becomes far more meaningful and blessed.

The hand of God brings favour and rest even in the middle of our earthly hustle. What may be a story of hardship for others becomes a testimony of grace and strength for those who walk with Him. The only thing we need to do, as the psalmist teaches us, is to keep coming back to God. For from Him we receive a clean heart and a steadfast spirit.

Think of it like refuelling or recharging our lives. Just as our vehicles need to be refuelled or our phones recharged, we too must refill our lives. We refill through the word of God and by spending time in His presence. As we do, we learn not to grow weary in our waiting. But to rise, soar, and walk in God’s strength.
