Are you carrying your burden?

Psalm 55:22:  Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

An old lady once got on to a train with a big baggage on her head.  She sat on the seat with the baggage still on her head.  She did not want to lower the bag because she thought it was okay for the baggage to rest on her head.  Throughout the journey, she sat with the bag on her head refusing to lower it down despite people telling her to.  Does this story remind us of our journey on the earth?

The scriptures tell us to cast our burden on the Lord.  He will sustain us.  Many times, we, like this old lady, carry our burdens with us.  We don’t ask God to take our burdens off us.  Even though Jesus has said, “come to me all of you who are weak and heavy laden, and I will give you rest,” we hardly go to Him.  We prefer carrying it ourselves.  Some people are carrying their own hurts, unforgiveness, sickness, relationship issues, the burden of debts, etc.  If we cast it all upon the Lord, He will sustain us.  He will strengthen and support us, be a source of strength or be a tower of strength.  He will never allow the righteous to be shaken or moved with all the burdens they have in life.  He will ensure that they find in Him strength and comfort.

Find your comfort and solace in the Lord amidst heavy burdens and trials.  It is a great relief to have Jesus as a God who cares for us.  He will never let His children be moved when under heavy burden.
