Immanuel, God with us

Isaiah 7:14:  Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign:  Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.

God gives signs to confirm what He has promised.  This scripture portion is a promise from God that a Messiah was going to come to save Israel.  The promise was that He would be born through a virgin and that His name shall be called Immanuel.

Immanuel means God with us. God promised that the God-child would be with His people or that His presence would be with them always.  Sometimes, confusion and depression hits us so strongly that they take us captive.  We begin to lose heart and hope in God.  We begin to look for answers for questions that seem to leave us puzzled about our future.  In the midst of all this confusion, how would you feel when God says that He would give you a sign of deliverance and hope?  For a married woman to have a son is no big deal, but for a virgin to conceive without the aid of a partner is indeed a miracle.  We cannot limit God and His miracles for ourselves.  He does what He thinks is wise even if we disapprove or reject His plans.  He has given us His Son, who is called Immanuel.  He will always be with us and guide us in every walks of life.

Whenever we pray and/or talk to God, always remember that He is with us.  He listens to everything that we ask of Him.  He will give us the much needed courage to move on and be victorious.
