A Christian’s Garment

But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.

Focus on our self does not give us much room for humbleness, kindness, and service of love.

So, what is Love? Love according to the Bible is patient, kind, thinking the best for and of others, quick to forgive and keeps no records of wrong.

To live the life, the Lord Jesus Christ has called us to, we must intentionally ‘put on’ compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience and forgiveness. To put on a new garment, we must remove the old garment – Colossians 3:5-6 reminds us to ‘put off’ these virtues and Colossians 3:14 to ‘put on’ love – the bond of perfection. Love is the final layer of the garment that holds all the other pieces of clothing in place.

Love should be our lifestyle. This can happen only if we are transformed by the power of the Cross. We must seek God’s help to love, His Spirit will empower us to ‘put on’ love the same way He did for us on the cross.
