Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
How well do we understand the nature of God? Have we immersed ourselves in knowing Him personally, or are we too afraid to take the plunge and trust God fully?
Elisha is one of the greatest prophets in the Bible. During his time, the Arameans were constantly at war with the Israelites. They set up strategic ambushes to defeat the Israelites but never succeeded. God always revealed the location of the enemy to Elisha, who promptly warned the king of Israel.
One day, the Aramean king found out about Elisha’s gift and paid him a visit. But he didn’t arrive with diplomatic intentions. He came with his army to destroy this one-man enemy detection system.
Elisha’s servant was terror-stricken at the sight of his mighty army. But Elisha remained calm. He said, “Don’t be afraid. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” – 2 Kings 6:16
Elisha prayed for the servant’s eyes to be opened. Immediately, he saw the hill full of horses and chariots of fire. The Lord’s army was there to protect them!
Often, like Elisha’s servant, we lose sight of God and focus on our problems. When we begin to understand the nature of God, we will have the wisdom to know that God is in control of all our problems. He will never let us fight any battle on our own.
As long as we move towards His light, the shadows (problems) will diminish in size. Let’s set our focus on God and not our problems. He will help us overcome every challenge!
