An Answer and A Rescue

Psalm 91:15He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.

A declaration by God in this psalm is so reassuring especially when we are facing troubled times. In this verse, there are four precious promises by our Lord Jesus Christ for those who call on His name in prayer and love Him.

Firstly, God promises us to answer us, He will respond and speak to us. When we call someone on the phone, it is possible that they will not answer. They may be busy, sleeping or may ignore the call. This will be never true of God. He never slumbers neither sleeps (Psalm 121:4). Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you (Mathew 7:7,John 15:7).

Secondly, He promises to be present with us in our affliction and distress. Children of God are not exempt from trouble (Mathew 28:20) but we have the assurance of God’s faithful, loving presence.

Third and fourth promises, are of deliverance and honor. There is no trial that comes into a believer’s life that does not have a good ending. God delivers us from them all, brings us to safety and works our ordeals into a blessing.(Romans 8:28, James 1:2-4). He makes us strong and bestows honor not only for this life but also for the life to come.

Call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, for in Christ we have been called – be assured of an answer and a rescue.
