Be ready with an answer

1 Peter 3:15 – “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.”

Anybody who truly believes in Jesus has hope. No matter how hopeless the circumstances may be right now, we have hope that God will turn it around for our good and His glory. But those who do not believe in Jesus, might not understand how we can remain hopeful in a hopeless situation. And that is why Peter urges us to always be ready with an answer to explain the reason for our hope.

You probably have unbelieving friends or relatives who know the problems you’re currently facing in life. Let them also know about your hope that things will turn around in your favour soon. And when they ask you how you can have that kind of hope, share with them your faith in Jesus, and how He is the reason you can hope for a better tomorrow. But when you do share the reason for your hope, make sure you do it with gentleness and respect.

Prayer: Father, thank you for the hope we have in You. Help us always remember to be hopeful in difficult circumstances, and be prepared to give an answer to anyone who asks us the reason for our hope. May our gentle answers inspire and encourage others to experience the same hope we have found in You. Amen.
