God of mercy and grace

Hebrews 4:16 – “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

Did you ever ask your parents to buy you something as a child? Most of us have asked our parents for small things such as, a toffee, a new toy, a book, or even pocket money. We never hesitated to ask our parents, and they usually gave into our requests, as long as they could afford it. In today’s verse, the writer of Hebrews tells us to come boldly to the throne of God.

Yes, we can approach God as we would our earthly father. While we may have sinned, rebelled, disobeyed, and walked away from God in the past, He is still waiting with open arms that we can run into. Our God is merciful and gracious. When we go to Him with a repentant heart, we receive mercy – He does not treat us as our sins deserve. When we approach Him with a desperate longing, we receive His grace – He blesses us much more than we deserve.

If we want to receive God’s mercy and grace, all we need to do is approach His throne boldly. We need to acknowledge that we are talking to the King of kings and Lord of lords. But we also need to be confident that we are His sons and daughters through the blood of Jesus. Approach God boldly today; He will be merciful to you. Draw near to God and He will shower down His grace to help you in your time of need.
