We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks! For Your wondrous works declare that Your name is near. – Psalm 75:1
How often do we thank the Lord for everything He has done for us as individuals, and for us as His family? Maybe there is a need for a “Thanksgiving Prayer Box” right next to the “Prayer Requests Box”.
How many times do we wake up in the morning just thanking the Lord for a good night of sleep; for waking up one more day; for the air that we freely breathe; for our eyes that see; our ears that hear; our body that moves; and so on?
How often do we thank the Lord for the simple things that may pass by unnoticed because we take them for granted? For having food to eat; for our caring family, for our friends, for our Church. For the sun that keeps us warm, the plants, trees, animals, all of creation.
Do we only remember to thank the Lord when something ‘big’ happens? Like a miracle, for example. Or do we remember to thank Him always, regardless of what has happened – big or small.
And His name is near. Jesus is near. The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. (Psalm 145:18). His Providence is near, His Salvation, His Mercy, His Healing, His Love is near.
We give thanks to You, O God; we give thanks, for Your Name is near. We recount Your wondrous deeds. (Psalm 75:1). Then we, Your people, the sheep of Your pasture, will thank You forever; from generation to generation we will declare Your praise. (Psalm 79:13). Amen!
