Being Persecuted? Lean on God

Matthew 5:11: Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.

In this verse, there are three points that Jesus talks about. The first is He knows that we as His children believe in Him and will follow Him through all the seasons of life, giving Him all the glory and honor. He is our creator and the creator of this entire universe, the one true God. He knew us from the time we were in our mother’s womb, and He has great plans for us when we continue in the path He planned for us.

Jesus also says that because we believe in Him and follow Him and worship Him, we will face persecution. People will pull us down and falsely accuse us of misdeeds because of our faith in Jesus. The devil will always try to break us by persecuting us and spreading lies about us when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. The devil does not want the Kingdom of God to grow. In 2 Timothy 3:12 also we read that all those who live a Godly life in Jesus will face persecution.

The third and most important point in this verse is that, when we believe in Jesus and are born again in Him, it is inevitable that we will face persecution at the hands of the devil. What we need to believe is God’s promise that when we face persecution for His sake, He will bless us. He will not forsake us through the persecution but because He has chosen us as the sheep of His pastures, He will bless us not just on earth but also in Heaven. Psalm 23:4 very clearly says that even though we may be facing the most difficult time of our life we do not need to fear because God is with us, and He will comfort us with His rod and His staff.
