Acts 4:29-30 – “And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness, while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
When we look at the book of Acts, we see a lot of opposition that the early church had to endure for the sake of Christ. One would think they would give up after facing resistance on all quarters. Yet, their prayer in the verses above tells us otherwise. When faced with threats to their very lives, they prayed that God would give them the boldness to keep sharing His Word.
As believers, we seem to have a target on our backs. We constantly face opposition in the secular world, and spiritual attacks often threaten to weaken our faith. What is our response when we face trouble? Do we want to run and hide, stay low until things get back to normal? Or are we geared to keep going on in faith, no matter the cost?
The disciples believed that God would do His part by healing people and showing them signs and wonders. They only asked for boldness to do their part in the kingdom of God. Today, you need to believe that God will do His part in your life. He will fulfill His promises towards you. You just need to be bold, persevere and keep doing the work God has called you to do.
