Psalm 98:4
Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth; break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises.
Psalm 98 invites all creation to break forth in praise, proclaiming the righteous reign of the Lord. When Israel sang this psalm, they were praising a God who saves, judges with righteousness, and never abandons His people. Recalling His marvelous works, they rejoiced and worshipped Him with overflowing gratitude.
Psalm 98:4 describes a praise that cannot be contained, a joy that rises from hearts overwhelmed by who God is and what He has done. Often in Scripture, we see that God’s people responded this way on witnessing His mighty acts.
After God delivered Israel from Egypt, Miriam led the women in dancing and singing (Exodus 15:20–21). Their celebration was a public, joyful outburst of gratitude for God’s miraculous salvation.
When the Ark of the Covenant was brought to Jerusalem, David danced with all his might, while the Israelites shouted with joy (2 Samuel 6:14–15). Their worship was an evident expression of joy in God’s presence and faithfulness to His people.
When God acts, moves, or saves, His people rejoice, sing, and break forth in praise. However, joyful praise is not rooted in perfect circumstances; it springs from remembering God’s faithfulness. Our joy should not be anchored in the size of our problems but in the greatness of our God. Praise becomes the natural language of a soul that has seen His goodness.
When reflection turns into worship, our hearts cannot stay silent. So today, let our praises rise, not because everything is perfect, but because God is good. Let us shout joyfully, sing praises, and celebrate the goodness of our Lord and Saviour for His marvelous acts.
