I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33(NIV)

But take heart! I have overcome the world,” Christ said this to comfort and uplift His disciples. They faced the terrible reality of their Master’s ultimate crucifixion. These words of consolation and assistance were to bring reassurance, strength, hope, and courage to the disciples. This hope was also for the later generations who would trust in Christ as their redeemer.

Jesus has triumphed over the schemes of the devil. In addition to paying the penalty for our sins, He destroyed sin’s power over us. The riches of God’s magnificent grace were made available to anyone who trusted in His name. It, therefore, nullified the power of death and hell in the process.

However dark our life situation may be, whatever challenges we face, and even when it seems like everything has gone wrong, we can still be at peace. Jesus knows, understands, and listens. Amid the trials and sorrows of life, trusting Jesus Christ and placing our hope in Him will bring us perfect peace.

As we spend time with Jesus – read the Bible to find out who He is, talk to Him about our situation, and allow Him to guide us. We will be pleasantly surprised at the peace that comes into our life. Take heart – Be at peace!
