Confidence in God

As for me, I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy; in fear of You I will worship toward Your holy temple. Psalm 5:7

One way to measure if you are growing close to God is the awareness you obtain about God’s holiness and man’s sinfulness. Growing close to God makes you increasingly sensitive to sin, especially since you are approaching a holy God.

That is why David’s confidence was in God’s character and not his own. David did not consider himself righteous or his enemies alone as unrighteous. His conviction to boldly go before God; was entirely based on God being merciful. David’s worship was through his reverence for the righteous, forgiving and loving Father, not his feelings.

Let’s take a moment to repent for our sins, the wrong thoughts we may have entertained and remember the cross of forgiveness, the soul cleansing blood that called us holy and invited us into God’s home. As we meditate on this verse today, let us mindfully recollect all the times God has been merciful to us. The times we could have perished had God not held us high. Let us thank Him for cleansing our hearts and allowing us into His loving arms.
