2 Peter 2:9

Then the Lord knows how to deliver the Godly out of temptations and reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment.

Everything is fast-paced in the world we live in today. We have access to anything we want at our fingertips, and expecting instant results is slowly becoming a part of our lifestyle. 2 Peter mainly focuses on God’s timing and keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, no matter what.

2 Peter 2:1-9 describes false teachers spreading lies about God’s word and authority. They encourage Christians to indulge in false doctrines and ways.

Let us first understand what Apostle Peter is talking about when he mentions the word temptation in the scripture. Here, it refers to the urge to do something that doesn’t please God or is against God’s word. With reference to the scripture, false teachers lure Christians into their selfish motives and fallacious doctrines that do not honor God’s word.

We may feel defeated or go through situations that make us wonder why God is not paying attention to us. The wicked may seem to be winning but remember, God saved Noah and punished the rebellious back then. Our God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Destruction will come, and so will salvation.

1 Corinthians 10:13 says, “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond.” Let us reflect on this verse whenever we face situations where we feel we cannot overcome the temptations around us.
