Psalm 119:7 – “I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws.”
“I will do right and praise you by learning to respect your perfect laws.” (CEV).“The tempter would make men think they are at liberty to follow the word of God or not, as they please”. (Matthew Henry Commentary). One person whom we all know was tricked by this was Eve: she chose not to follow the word of God, and the rest is history.
Doing what is right in the sight of God is for sure something that makes our God smile. He is pleased when we choose to learn, obey and follow Him and His laws. It is like knowing where to walk and where to avoid walking, because we know that His ways are perfect. We also know that His word is a lamp to our feet and light for our path.
Doing what is right in the sight of God is an action. When we know that some choices we make will lead us to sin, and we decide to obey the Lord and His word with our actions, we are shutting down options which could hurt us, and could bring condemnation upon us.
Doing what is right in the sight of God, obeying His perfect law, opens the way for His goodness and mercy to follow us, His blessings to surround us, His love to overwhelm us.
Doing what is right in the sight of God will keep our hearts pure, and praise will freely flow from us, from our heart, straight into the heart of God.
So, do it right, and praise will follow! Amen!
