“Do You Believe This?”

John 11:25 – “Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.”

“He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26).

What Jesus spoke was absolute: He said “I am”: ‘the’ resurrection, ‘the’ life, ‘the’ bread of life, ‘the’ water that quenches every thirst, ‘the’ gate, ‘the’ way, ‘the’ truth, ‘the’ son of God.  Jesus is not one of the options, but “the” only option.  And because we believe, we also receive, by faith, these absolute truths!

Jesus said: “He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.”

In the case of Lazarus, he literally physically died, and physically resurrected. Then Jesus commanded him in a loud voice: “Lazarus, come out!” (John 11:43). And he did.

In the case of Nicodemus, Jesus told him that no one could see the kingdom of God unless he was born again (John 3:3), which totally confused Nicodemus, who thought and reasoned with his natural mind.  Then Jesus explained to him, that one should be born in the Spirit, not in the Flesh. (John 3:5).

In order for us to have eternal life, we need to believe in Jesus.  We shall all die one day, but when Jesus comes, we will receive eternal life as a free gift.
